phonetics

I found this list yesterday whilst walking home from the beach. I know it's not a shopping list but I found it interesting all the same.

There were lots and lots of police in Brighton yesterday for the Labour party conference and I like to think that one of them must have been having trouble remembering the phonetic alphabet (and had to have his list corrected by his partner too).

Bravo indeed!

lists lists lists

The shopping lists are on hold at the moment - many apologies. Normal service will resume soon.
For now I am mainly writing lists. Lots and lots of lists full of tasks to complete while I try and finish off my final MA project.
Our show is in September so please do come along:

There's some good experimental spelling and grammar on this list.
I also like the use of categories on the back:

what's for dinner then?

It's nice to know what someone is buying their ingredients for...

...and that they are stocked up on toilet rolls.

strange

This is possibly the strangest list I've ever found.
It makes me very curious.

Does 'Waf Win Whis' mean 'Waffles, Wine & Whiskars' (I'm not sure why anyone would shorten wine to win though...).

Surely the list took longer to translate once in the supermarket than it did to write...?

Very bizarre.
But then again I always think it's a little bizarre when people go shopping for marmite (or 'mamit' as I may now call it).

does it count?

I found this list on my way to work a few weeks ago. Though I wasn't actually sure if it can be called a list or not as there is only one item. Isn't one item easy enough to remember on it's own? I wonder if the listmaker managed to get hold of their copy of the Daily Mail before losing the list.

I also found the following list on my way home from work on the same day. It looks like this person definitely managed to pick up their copy (either that or they changed their mind altogether).

Note the wonderful spelling of pollock.
